This time, Meelo knew he’s going to the southern water-tribe.
This time, Meelo sensed the familiarity of this cold location.
‘n this time, Meelo remembers that wrinkly old lady who smell a tad bit like the otter-penguins, but with a fragrance of some flower of rarity. Although he’d always been bad with wrinkly creatures { and people cause they’re freaky to a five year old alright? }, it wasn’t half as bad when the bald finally realized that they were family.
“Gran-gran! Look, look! I got a new Lemur and his name is Pokey! Ikki thinks it’s ugly, but don’t y’ think he’s just so… so… manly?”
After all these years { well, just five } of denial of wrinkly existence — - the young air nomad had finally come to his senses.

Her brows lift and she leans down to his eye level, gazing at the little creature in his arms with a smile. She’s surprised he’s so familiar with her, but this is a good thing– she’s thankful she won’t be ignored by the little one again, but she understands why it might occur. It isn’t often that they visit her, so she’ll try to spend as much time with them as she can.
“Pokey?” she hums, “What a handsome name for such a manly little lemur!” she says, reaching out to rub the little animal under his chin. “I can’t imagine why Ikki would think such a thing.” she says as if she were offended, pulling back her arm and standing upright, hands sitting on her hips. ( she won’t tell him about Momo yet– since they found out after more lemurs were discovered that the he-lemur was actually a she-lemur.)
“Well, Meelo, are you and Pokey hungry?” she asks, tilting her head slightly, “There’s plenty of food inside– and you can tell me all about what you and your siblings have been up to lately.” she says, gesturing towards the door with a smile.
“ Yeah—I’m good; I just got home from a vacation with a friend of mine into the Spirit World, it’s always so peaceful over there. " Korra answers smiling, as she leans back on a wall. " Not really, you already probably know about what happened with Kuvira, as she almost destroyed Republic City and created a new spirit portal right in the earth of the city. ”

”Oh really?“ she asks, turning slightly to pull a chair underneath her, ”You must excuse me, sometimes even the best healers have to deal with a bad back,“ she says with an soft laugh to herself, sitting and folding her hands in her lab. ”Now – the Spirit World, you say?“ she thinks back on her own experiences with the place, ”Must have been exciting to meet all of those Spirits–“ she blinks, ”but I don’t think I would quite call it peaceful,“ she says.
”Ah yes, I did hear about that. I was worried about you and your friends over there– especially Tenzin– you know how he is.“ she pauses, crossing her ankles and leaning back in her chair, ”I’m glad it all worked out in the end though, a new spirit portal was not was I expected, but if it happened, I suppose that was exactly what the world needed…“ she sighs, looking back up to the Young Avatar, ”Tell me more, though, I’ve only heard as much as a messenger hawk can carry– and I’m sure the point of view of the Avatar is much more interesting than what you hear in the papers,“ she sit up with a jolt, ”Oh! And I heard you finally met Toph. She hasn’t written me in ages– how is she? And how are the rest of her bunch?“
Seldom does the waterbender get to see her whole family together at once, but one of those treasured times presents itself now, and the first grandchild she sees brings a grin to her face.
“–It’s so nice to see you again, Meelo.” she says with a genuine smile, though afraid that the little one will shy away from her again (as he usually does, though she’s not quite sure why).
“ —Katara! it’s so nice to see you again !! How have you been? It’s been a long time, I should come more often to see you and my parents, but i’m kind of busy with.. you know, avatar stuff. ”

“Hello Korra,” she says warmly, “it is so nice to see you again.” she snickers, shifting her weight with a raised brow, “And yes, I see. Avatar stuff. Keeps you very busy. I wish you could come bak more often as well, but I understand… I’ve been doing very well– how about you, Avatar? Have any stories of adventure to share?”
“No, no, it’s alright,” Katara touches her hand to her chin as she stares at the fabric laid out in front of her, “I’m good at guessing.” she gives the girl a quick smile and begins to cut the blue cloth with expert precision.
“I think this will look lovely on you,” she begins to pin the fabric, then holding it up to Asami’s shoulder and brushing over it to smooth it down, “it just might take a little while.” she adds with a snicker, going back to her work with excitement. It wasn’t every day that she got to make dresses for visitors from Republic City, (in fact, she hasn’t made a dress like this since Kya was Asami’s age) and it wasn’t every day that she got to meet and talk to Korra’s friends.
i drew this yesterday at like 4 am because i was thinking about fatherlord zuko comforting sprout Izumi for being a late bloomer with firebending and yea…… ok
he lets out a little yelp when she snatches up his ear — he feels like a little kid being scolded. when she lets him go, wei rubs at the irritated skin, a frown on his face.
❝ i wasn’t shifting blame! i was just — ❞
talking in circles because he has no idea what he could do at this point?yes, that’s exactly what he’s doing. wei does feel bad, really, and he’d had no idea what the trinkets even were. and now that he does know what they are? he feels even worse.
❝ ican fix them. what were they made of…?please tell me chipped stone. ❞

“Oh you can, can you?"she shuffles forward with interest.
There’s no way he’s getting out of this one, although he deserves a prize for his efforts. The loss of the heirlooms disappoints her, but it hardly surprises her. By the end of the first day the first time Toph’s daughters visited, the entire village was falling apart. It was apparently in his blood to be a little reckless, but his reaction to the accident (she’ll call it an accident for now, he didn’t know what they were) makes her want to cut him a little slack.
”Well, most carvings and decorations were made of ancient drift wood brought over by the Northern sister tribe,“ she has to think about what she wants to say, ”some utensils were ancient and fragile metals, others were weapons, a few were fur and animal skin… You know, quite the variety.“ she pauses, places a finger on her chin as she looks upwards.
”You know… I think that particular collection was all that remained of the original united Water Tribe thousands of years ago!“ she’s just poking fun now, she wants to see if he notices– the trinkets were only as old as Aang, and if the situation is handled correctly, no one will know they are missing. She’ll wait to tell him that a little later.
